Peak Volumes is a second hand and antiquarian bookshop, based in the village of Tideswell, in the heart of the Peak District. We sell all kinds of books, with a good range of fiction, detective fiction, science fiction and fantasy. We also have books to cover most other areas of interest, with particularly extensive transport, political biography, history and travel literature (not guides) sections. We welcome browsers to enjoy looking at our books in a comfortable, relaxed environment.
As well as our books, we also sell a range of pick ‘n’ mix sweets, cards and gift wrap.
Peak Volumes was founded by Tim Dudley, (originally as Tomes of Buxton) and moved to Tideswell in the early 2010’s. It has now moved from its original home in Madeira House,
100 metres up the road to the ground floor of the Guildhall, Bank Square, Tideswell SK17 8NT. The building was originally a bank, and has high ceilings and some lovely woodwork.
As well as selling books in our shop, we also have a growing collection online, which we add to every day, so visit us at Abe books.
The bookshop is open Thursday – Sunday inclusive from 1030 – 1730, and longer on occasions. During these covid-19 times we will have three days per week when we’re closed to rid the shop of any potential germs our normal cleaning might not eradicate.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE WILL ARE NOW OPEN THURSDAY – SUNDAY
